Apickstitch is a type of backstitch. It's a hand-sewn detail with useful appli-cations in couture and home sewing. Pickstitches are typically only 1/16 inch long and spaced 1/16 inch to 3/8 inch apart. Pickstitches are sometimes used as decorative stitches on collars, lapels, and hems. In this use, the thread does not show on the garment's facing or wrong side.
