It was predicted recently that some complete toroidal shells of elliptical cross-section would buckle when subjected to internal pressure. As yet there is no experimental evidence for this, so two independent shell buck- ling programs (BOSOR and INCA) were employed to calculate the internal buckling pressures for some test cases. The agreement between the results of the two programs is very good, with both programs pre- dicting that buckling occurs. Calculations were also carried out by using BOSOR on complete toro- Ids having cross-sections in the form of prolate (k=a/b.1.0) ellipses.
