Possible ways for optimizing staged combustion of lean Kuznetsk coal in PK-10 dry-bottom boilers are discussed. In [1], difficulties arising during staged combustion of lean Kuznetsk coal in PK-10 dry-bottom boilers installed at the Yuzhno-Kuzbass district power station (YKDPS) were described. Despite the fact that a large volume of qualitatively different retrofitting activities have been accomplished in ten boilers of the eleven ones installed at the station, no significant improvement has so far been achieved in the indicators characterizing the performance of these boilers. The specific amount of nitrogen oxide emissions makes up 760-1100 mg/m~3 against the standardized value equal to 470 mg/m~3, and the heat loss due to unburned carbon is around 6% at the air excess factor downstream of the superheater α_(ss)≈1.25[1].
