In light of federal regulations requiring organizations to keep a tight rein on the information that traverses their e-mail pipelines, most Notes shops are discovering the need to develop a comprehensive policy for archiving and managing company-wide e-mail. Yet because producing a set of standards that meets the specific needs of all the different departments within an enterprise is so challenging, companies often fail to bring a comprehensive policy to fruition. The consequences are higher IT and litigation costs.
