The new parliamentary building — Portcullis House

The new parliamentary building, adjacent to the Palace of Westminster, provides offices and committee rooms for MPs. The location in a World Heritage site was an important factor in the design; equally significant was the presence below of the new Westminster underground station. There are many interesting features in the design: structural stone piers, precast concrete waveform slabs, precast concrete tied arch transfer structures, composite aluminium bronze/steel roof structure, bronze fenestration, suspended cores, laminated oak courtyard roof structure, integrated low-energy building services scheme.
