Structural design by Gifford for a large and technologically advanced newspaper printing facility in Oxford has had to take account of flood attenuation and the specialist equipment to be installed Modern presses of the scale and type used to print several newspapers for entire regions of the UK are highly specialist and sensitive pieces of plant. One example is Newsquest Media Group' new facility at its Oxford site - within a newly constructed steel framed building. Newsquest is extending and modernising its Oxford operation with a fully automated press and reel handling and conveyor systems to deliver publications to dispatch bays. It already prints two daily newspapers - the Oxford Mail and Swindon Evening Advertiser - and other Group titles.
