Comalco Alumina Refinery, Queensland

This presentation covered the development of a brand new Alumina refinery project in Queensland. With projects of this complexity and scale it can be difficult to engender an appreciation of individual structures, the scope of any one of which could justify a paper in its own right. Examples of this were the 320m long deepwater berth, which can accommodate 75,000 DWT freighters and has flexibility for extension to 900m length in the future, or the two alumina storage silos, which are each 45m in diameter and 44m high.
