The UK's historic buildings form part of our national treasure, heritage and our built environment. Given that 'sustainability' is one of the dominant buzzwords in the construction industry, what better act of recycling is there, than maintaining, re-using and upgrading existing buildings and their construction materials? How many Georgian and Victorian townhouses, wharfside warehouses, northern cotton mills - beacons of our industrial heritage - have been converted into apartment blocks or office space?
