The Centenary Annual Dinner took place at The Guildhall, London on 9 May (see photo right). The glittering celebration of 100 years of structural engineering attracted around 360 people from all over the world and attendees included 16 former presidents. Experience was rewarded, and the achievements of youth. Bill Eastwood, the longest serving past president and also the youngest when he took the office was awarded a special certificate by the President, Sarah Buck. The Institution's Gold Medal was presented to Mike Glover, and the Young Structural Engineer of the Year Award was presented to Mike Sefton of Buro Happold, chosen from a shortlist of five young engineers who attended the event.
