UK energy infrastructure takes shape

The UK Government has clarified its policies on energy infrastructure with the publication of six draft National Policy Statements (NPS) to guide planning decisions covering fossil fuels, nuclear, renewables, transmission networks and oil and gas pipelines. There will be a massive expansion in renewables, a new nuclear programme based around 10 sites for new nuclear power stations, two of them new ones, and a programme to demonstrate clean coal technology.
