President's visits

Institution President, Dr Graham Owens, and his wife Margaret visited the UAE between 22 and 25 March to meet the newly formed UAE Division of the Institution. They were accompanied by Dr Shapour Mehrkar and Roderick Chisholm, recently elected as Chairman and Honorary Secretary of the Division.rnIn Dubai, visits were made to the Dubai Municipality, the Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority, and TECOM Authority. In the UAE they attended the University open day ceremony at City Hall, Dubai Municipality and had dinner with the UAE University staff and students on the Tour Dubai' Dhow. There were meetings with the UAE Society of Engineers in Dubai, with Ian Wood, Deputy Head of Mission, the British Embassy in Abu Dhabi, and the Abu Dhabi Men's College (Higher College of Technology). A number of interesting ideas were discussed during the meetings with Dubai authorities and educational establishments.
