Work has started on the 632m tower designed by architectural design firm Gensler. The Shanghai Tower Construction & Development Co., Ltd., is the project's developer. The team is composed of structural engineer Thornton Tomasetti, mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineer Cosentini Associates and the Architectural Design and Research Institute of Tongji University, which, as the local design institute will support Gensler. The development is to be completed in 2014.rnShanghai Tower is located in the Luijiazui Finance and Trade Zone, an area of Shanghai that was farmland 18 years ago and which is to be China's first super-tall district. The new tower will complete a trio of towers (see cover photo) with the Jin Mao Tower and Shanghai World Financial Center (WFC).
