At the end of my Presidential Address in October 2003,1 raised the issue of corruption in the construction industry and said that, in my opinion, the time had come to outlaw 'the biggest evil in society'. Many in the audience were taken aback, and some said that it was a great ideal but that it would never take root. Looking back, it is now clear that the doubters were completely wrong.rnIn early 2003, with the backing of the Institution, I started to work alongside Transparency International and, as a result, in October 2004 the UK Anti-Corruption Forum was established by a small committed group of UK based organisations. These organisations believed that the changing ethical environment in relation to corruption required positive leadership from business and the professions, and a collaborative approach across all sector interests. The Institution was one of the founder members of the Forum and I remain fully involved in representing the Institution.
