Report on how to develop places where people matter

A report, Good Foundations: towards a low carbon, high well-being built environment was launched recently at the Building Centre In London. Commissioned by the Happold Trust from the New Economics Foundation, it focuses on new ways to plan, design and develop neighbourhoods, placing high well-being and low environmental impact at the heart of development objectives.rnStuart Wallace OBE, Executive Director of the NEF said that the built environment accounts for 40% of carbon emissions, as well as being a visual indicator of the values by which we live. There was a need to think about these values and how they can be measured. The report suggests 'a way forward that puts people's lived experience and the limits of the planet's resources at the heart of the development process'.
