Imperial College wins Structural Concrete 2011

Students from Imperial College, London, have won the 2011 Structural Concrete Competition and £1000 cash first prize for their elegant structural solution for a new rugby club grandstand. The annual competition, organised by MPA The Concrete Centre, is open to all students studying structural design at degree level and aims to encourage interest and raise competence in structural concrete design. The grandstand brief for the 2011 competition called for a structure that made provision for tiered seating, hospitality suites and a club room. Students had to respond as if they were part of the consultants' team.
