High accolades for tall buildings

Four skyscrapers have been named Regional 'Best Tall Buildings' for 2011 by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH). The best Tall Building 'Worldwide' is to be announced at the Awards Ceremony on 27 October in Chicago at which Adrian Smith and Akira Wada will also to be recognised with lifetime Achievement' Awards. These awards recognise outstanding tall buildings from each of four geographical regions, and this year are awarded to: 'New York by Gehry' at Eight Spruce Street, New York (Americas), Structural engineer: WSP Cantor Seinuk; Guangzhou International Finance Center, Guangzhou (Asia & Australasia), Structural engineer: Arup; KfW Westarkade, Frankfurt (Europe), Structural engineer: Werner Sobek GmbH; and The Index, Dubai (Middle East & Africa), Structural engineer: Halvorson and Partners; BG&E.
