A concrete shell-dome structure devised as a low cost housing solution has been recognised in the first ever Lafarge Invention Awards.The ultra-thin Dome Home, the brainchild of Kidderminster-based Jay Emery, was the only UK entrant to reach the top ten in the inaugural year of the awards. Jay's Dome Home narrowly missed out on a prize but received praise for its simple, yet innovative design.The Lafarge Invention Awards, launched by Lafarge Aggregates & Concrete UK aims to champion new ideas in sustainable construction.
