Carbon embodiment in buildings

Richard Haigh writes in regarding a paper on embodied carbon in buildings, published in the October 2012 issue. I write to congratulate Drs Sansom and Pope for their excellent paper, which when read with the wider target zero documents provides a thorough introduction to the complex issues of embodied and operational carbon reduction. However, as with all comparative studies of this kind it is limited by the data selected and used for the case studies and should be treated with caution by those not familiar with the subject.
