Falling objects

Buildings fall down if left long enough without attention. Older structures can partially fail, sometimes without obvious signs of deterioration, when elements or components can no longer support the loads which they carried for years. A number of cases have occurred recently in apparently sound buildings, although if there had been detailed structural examinations beforehand, tell-tale signs would have been seen.
