Builder's design software

I refer to my letter published in the 19 April 2011 issue, regarding software found on the internet to enable builders to bypass structural engineers and do all the structural calculations themselves. I have recently been contacted by a Senior Building Inspector at Wiltshire Council regarding a smart phone app available for builders that attempts to do pretty much the same, but from the convenience of their smart phone.
