The Standing Committee on Structural Safety (SCOSS) was founded over 30 years ago to provide advice to the civil and structural engineering professions on the state of structural safety in the UK. It has a committee of distinguished engineers who meet quarterly to discuss topical issues, and who publish Topic Papers and Alerts, as well as Biennial reports which give advice on avoiding circumstances which have been shown to be structurally hazardous.
