Andrew Briggs considers the impact that short periods of inefficient working can have on a design company's profit margin.The aim of the '12 minute principle' is to create an awareness of the significance of short periods of time on profitability which should help to encourage efficient working. It also shows how efficiency should improve design quality. In practice of course, no one monitors their time in increments as small as 12 minutes, so the '12 minute principle' is not meant to be taken too literally.
