Art and the engineer

Well done for publishing Harry Partridge's article about teaching art to engineering students (August 2014): an enlightened society is one open to new ideas. Far too long has engineering been blinkered somewhat in its acceptance of anything non-technical. My own university degree had no courses on freehand drawing or architecture. In addition to inspiring engineering students (and who could fail to be inspired by the Constructivists!), I agree with Harry that the arts can make engineers more rounded and better at questioning original assumptions.
