An institution that never sleeps

Much depends, of course, on where in the world you are reading this article, but writing in mid-September here in the UK, there is the unmistakable dawning that summer is over and we are starting the new term. In Institutional 'speak' there is no longer a 'quiet' period that perhaps was typical of the months of July and August in years past. While formal member committees and panels may have had a short break, behind the scenes many members and the HQ staff have been incredibly busy developing, producing, refining and representing the Institution in all manner of activities. And so it should be! The appetite of this Institution for growth and development appears insatiable. The eagerness to continually find better ways to support the needs of the profession is always uppermost and the desire to do it better is constant.
