Economic and safe design of the construction method

I am delighted to have been invited to contribute an editorial to The Structural Engineer introducing a new series of articles on an important aspect of construction projects that does not always receive the attention it deserves. We intend the "Temporary Works Toolkit" to describe the issues and current practice in temporary works and construction method engineering. We have asked leading practitioners to develop the articles with the intent of providing an introduction to the topic, guidance on where to look for further information and - in some cases - a case study or indicative calculations. We also wish to encourage feedback and debate.
