In the May 2016 issue, David Nethercot argued that a Leave vote should not mean reversion to the British Standards; instead, the UK should continue with the Eurocodes. While I am generally in agreement with David's argument, I have one important difference which relates to this issue: whether as a non-EU country the UK will be able to participate in the development of Eurocodes in future. David hopes that because of the UK's recognised expertise and history of significant contributions, its many roles in developing the Eurocodes will not change. This is where I differ, as I do not share David's hopes.
