Building Information Modelling (BIM) is the process in which a digital representation of a building, or structure, is created incorporating both physical and functional information. BIM models are data files, often using a proprietary software format, which can be exchanged or shared. BIM is not simply a three-dimensional (3D) building model, nor is it a software product.
