[...] it does not come as a surprise that neither Hobbes nor Spinoza are given any significance in Antognazza's biography, in spite of the overwhelming amount of literature within the last few decades about Leibniz's serious interest in both of them. [...] it should be noted that Leibniz shifted his unifying efforts, not from the Catholic-Protestant to the Reformed-Lutheran unification, but from the Catholic-Lutheran to the Reformed-Lutheran unification. [...] not canceling the first project, he rather extended than narrowed his project to unify Christianity.
