Heidegger's text has been the subject of much critical debate over the years and remains so today, not only regarding its interpretation and role in his thought and its contribution to aesthetics, but the impact of Heidegger's failed political commitments upon it. Heidegger's attention to the details of our metaphysical conceptions is prized for articulating the character of technological modernity and the role that art can still play within it.
