Independent Nuclear Safety Assessment for the Naval PWR

The provision of safety advice and assessment services calls upon a broad range of disciplines. As part of Serco Assurance, SRD is able to call upon a high level of expertise in all areas essential to nuclear safety, including: reactor physics, thermal hydraulics, PSA, CI&E, chemistry, materials and plant engineering. SRD combines this specialist expertise with operational and project experience derived from the management of issues over more than four decades of UK naval plant operation. Challenges for the future include developments in technologies and safety standards and applying these to both new plant and the existing, ageing fleet. We consider a high priority to be to maintain our current advanced skill base against a background of possible decline in the wider nuclear field. Our core business is nuclear safety and we are committed to providing the best achievable service in support of the continued safe operation of the UK submarine flotilla and the protection of the general public.
