Why should it matter so much when a wasteful, elitist transport vehicle used by a tiny fraction of the world's population retires from service? It isn't as though most of those who lament its passing would ever use it, and we certainly don't live in an age that derives pleasure from the rich and famous and their playthings. Quite the opposite. Inequality of any kind is seen to be evidence of unfairness. The reality is that Concorde's demise attracted massive attention and caused real sadness to countless people, many of whom have little or no interest in aviation.
