The Government has identified tourism as one of the top five industries to drive growth.Tourism is worth approximately 8.9 percent of the UK's gross domestic product; one in 12 jobs in the UK is currently supported by tourism and this figure is set to top over 250,000 by 2020. In 2010 some 29.6 million visitors came to the UK from other countries, spending £16.7 billion. And the Government has ambitions to welcome 40 million visitors to the UK by 2020.
