If your children are too young to travel alone or if you want to prepare them for later adventures, there are plenty of organisations that can help. PGL caters for children aged seven to 17 and teaches life-skills on its residential courses in the UK and abroad. Its adventure holidays for unaccompanied children include a range of 'taster' experiences to help parents to send their children off for the first time. "Parents walk a difficult line between protecting their children and giving them freedom to grow in confidence and life skills," said PGL Head of Holidays Steve Hougham.
