Welcome to this the first 'new look' Log that will exist alongside the monthly Log update, which by now you should have received. One of our tenets at BALPA is 'Listen and Lead' and the evolution of the Log formats is very much a product of us listening to what members are telling us and adapting our output as a result. Taking the pressure off the paper Log to carry breaking news and information (something it could never do well due to the lead time of magazine publications) means that we can devote more space to opinion pieces and well-written themed features capturing industry views and comment. In this first edition our theme is that of high speed rail and its impact (positive or otherwise) on aviation.
