How did you get into your profession? Somebody visited my school in Leeds when I was 15 and talked about shipping. I liked the idea of travelling the world. I didn't know anybody in the Merchant Navy and had never travelled by ship before. I was at uni doing electronics and joined the uni air squadron because I couldn't play rugby due to an injury. I did electronics for a year and became convinced about flying, so I joined the Air Force at 23, then later joined BA.
