Reports of economic recovery have flooded our media of late, but as is so often the case, it certainly doesn't feel like it's making its way into our industry. Some airlines are suffering difficulties with pilots facing the brunt: Monarch has announced more than 1,000 job losses this summer, and GSS recently folded too. BALPA is, of course, here to ensure that pilots get all the support they need during these turbulent times, and our thoughts, but more importantly our resources, are with Monarch pilots right now. Sadly the piece in this edition on GSS and how BALPA has supported pilots will be pertinent to our Monarch colleagues who are in a similar situation.
