As the CAA's first - and, so far, only - Chief Executive, Andrew Haines enjoys something of a unique perspective on the UK aviation sector. Appointed to bring the organisation's disparate activities closer together, Haines has been in the job for almost seven years now - and it is a role he clearly relishes. "I'm passionate about transport and about safety, but also about consumers getting good value for money. These are the things that have stayed with me throughout my career," says Haines, who worked in the railway industry before swapping the tracks for the skies.
