Chairman's update

Welcome to the latest edition of The Log. Celebrating the Association's 80th birthday in June leads me to reflect a little upon our history. Back in 1937, Eric Lane-Burslem, faced with being forced to operate in unsafe conditions, started our Association. While we have a wonderful audio recording of Eric, we can only really imagine the uphill struggle he and others faced in organising pilots to stand up to an aggressive employer in that day and age. The airline would have seen Eric and his colleagues as troublemakers, intent on getting in the way of them running their business and interfering in their ability to make profits.
