A spiring young pilots today have to find up to £100,000 to fund their training, plus up to £30,000 for a type rating. They also have to work through both the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) technical course, and exams, on their way to a European professional licence. Even before they start flying, their path has elephant traps.
