In this paper, I have attempted to highlight some of the special considerations that go into the design, installation and management of a lighting system for a sports ground or stadium. As sporting facility requirements are constantly changing and developing, installations that simply duplicate features from previous schemes will not be competitive or adequate. The quality of lighting for sports is important to their success, because it is essential to create a good atmosphere and high visibility, with little or no restriction.
