Outlining the Future of Public Lighting

The annual ILE/Surveyor conference in London on December 11 saw more than 160 delegates treated to a selection of informative presentations, on such issues as the assessment of lighting levels, the calculation of carbon footprint, the implications of unmetered energy supply and future market transformation developments. One of the agenda-setting papers was by Alistair Scott (right) of consultants, Designs for Lighting, who chairs the UK committee on revisions to EN 13201 and BS5489. Alistair set out some informed guesses on the likely direction of future revisions to the European EN road lighting standards. Here we publish an abridged version of his paper.
