Launched in the USA in September to a massive degree of interest, and retailing at $69 (£43) when it is shipped in bulk in March 2013, LIFX from a company called Kickstarter, could represent a revolution in domestic lighting. It is certainly the smartest light bulb you've ever experienced. It looks like most other LED retro-fits, but it is a Wi-Fi-enabled, energy-efficient, RGB LED lamp that you can control with your iPhone or Android. Available in bayonet, Edison screw (E27) and GU10 versions, LIFX is incredibly easy to set-up. You simply replace your existing bulbs with LIFX smart bulbs, download and install the free 'app' from the App Store or Google Play and you're ready to go.
