Spanish artistic collaborative Luzinterruptus gave first Durham (2013) and last year Stoke-on-Trent an anarchic and, it has to be said, cheap and cheerful take on the Christmas tree in December/January. The Consumerist Christmas Tree is constructed from plastic carrier bags attached to a frame and lit from within by basic floodlights. Some 2000 donated bags filled with recycled plastic from nearby businesses were used to create the 6m tree.
