Electroluminescent (EL) technology has never quite lived up to its promise though it has found some use in signage and decorative tape. US company Darkside Scientific has literally been a little more fluid in its approach, however, and may have found a way of revolutionising its applications. Its patented LumiLor Electroluminescent Coating System can be sprayed on to any surface then illuminated with simple driver electronics. As a liquid, it can easily be applied to curved surfaces and around corners. As well as providing the service, Darkside Scientific gives training to individuals and businesses in the LumiLor application process, leading to certification.
