Talent is the single most important factor for Ireland's future, according to Lionel Alexander, president of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ireland and vice president and managing director, Hewlett Packard (Manufacturing) Limited. He was speaking in advance of his address to the heads of Ireland's leading engineering organisations at Engineers Ireland's 7th annual CPD Symposium in The D4 Berkeley Court Hotel on October 6 next. A Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of Engineers Ireland, Lionel Alexander is to deliver the keynote speech at the event, which follows the annual CPD Company of the Year awards. According to Mr Alexander, retaining and protecting the 100,000 jobs in Ireland as a result of US Foreign Direct Investment is vital if the country is to move forward. "If we fail to retain what we have already won, winning more and becoming smarter in the future will be more difficult and will be less likely," he pointed out.
