This text is based on an extract from Dr Ron Cox's definitive history, Engineering Ireland (2006)rnIn the early sixties, arguably the most significant initiative in the Institution's history, in terms of its consequences for the advance of the engineering profession in Ireland, was undertaken, with the setting up of a Policy Committee to consider ways and means whereby the ICEI might serve the interests of members of all branches of engineering in Ireland.
