Euro Patent Conference set for Kilkenny

The Patents Office has been successful in its bid to bring the European Patent Office's Patent Information Conference 2011 to Kilkenny from October 18-20, 2011. The Conference will take place in the Lyrath Estate Hotel and Convention Centre, Kilkenny. Making the announcement the Minister for Research and Innovation, Sean Sherlock TD, said: "Ireland is proud to host the European Patent Office's Patent Information Conference 2011 as it is the leading patent information event in Europe. Kilkenny is the home of the Irish Patent Office and I know that the city will warmly welcome the 400 or participants who will travel from as far afield as the US and China. Referring to the important role of the Patents Office, Minister Sherlock said: "A robust regime for the protection of intellectual property rights is essential if we are to encourage and develop creativity and innovation in our economy.
