Delivering the Western Distributor Road

The Western Distributor Road, a strategic non-national scheme links the N4 dual carriageway at the Caltragh Interchange to the Stran-dhill Road at Ballydoogan. The objective of the scheme is to open up development land, industrial, commercial and residential, on the west side of Sligo City and to improve access to the western side of the town. The planning phase of the road started in earnest in 2001, when Atkins was appointed as consultant firm for the scheme by Sligo Borough Council.
