Good catch - developing the inland fisheries

The Inland Fisheries Act 2010 was the enabling legislation for this transition from the original structures of the central and regional boards. The objectives of the old and new bodies are remarkably similar. Under the 1980 Act, fisheries are to be "conserved, protected, developed and improved." Under the 2010 Act, Inland Fisheries Ireland is to "promote, support, facilitate and advise the Minister on the conservation, protection, management, marketing, development and improvement of inland fisheries, including sea angling."
