'Cut tax and red tape or lose the business vote' warns CBI

The government must attack the serious threat to manufacturing industry from the weak euro and the increasing burden of taxation and red tape if it is to win the business vote in the general election expected next year, the Confederation of British Industry warned this week. The warning comes at the start of a new campaign by the employers' body to persuade the government that long-term economic success depends on a healthy manufacturing base.
